Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 106-103 win over San Antonio Spurs
While it certainly was too close for comfort in the end, the Milwaukee Bucks pulled out a big victory over the San Antonio Spurs in their Sunday matinee meeting.
It was hard having to brace for the worst by the end of it, but the Milwaukee Bucks got the job done, securing a key 106-103 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday afternoon in the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The first several minutes of the first quarter didn’t hold the same level of anxiety, considering both the Bucks and the Spurs got off to slow starts for the day. But it was the Bucks who broke the pattern as they closed out the first quarter strong on both ends of the floor and held a 27-15 lead after one.
San Antonio struck back in the second quarter by flummoxing the Bucks while on the defensive end and picking up their offensive effectiveness, leading the way for them to close the gap and hold their first lead of the game at the 5:40 mark of the period.

From there, the Bucks put in their best effort to match the Spurs’ every move, which was fitting as both teams were all tied up at 47 heading into halftime.
The Bucks went back on the offensive once play picked back up in the third, not only grabbing control of the game, but building up their lead to as much as 15 at the 4:30 mark of the quarter. While the Spurs were able to answer back moments after that, the Bucks withstood their pressure to lead 88-75 with 12 minutes to go.
That carried over into the fourth quarter as the Bucks continued to fortify their double-digit lead for the opening few minutes of the frame. However, that eventually eroded with the Spurs making one last strong push to bring their deficit down to single digits heading into crunch time.
The Spurs’ resiliency led to making it a single possession game within the final 35 seconds, but that’s as far as they would go as the Bucks held on to earn their second consecutive victory, boosting their playoff positioning in the process.
So without further ado, let’s dive deeper into what stood out in the Bucks’ win over the San Antonio Spurs Sunday afternoon.
