Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo

Going against one of the slowest paced teams in the league on Sunday afternoon, the Bucks possessed a clear edge in athleticism with the players they’ve assembled on their roster. The big question was how they would go about using that to their advantage to produce a winning result.

Well, we had an emphatic answer in that regard as the Bucks scored 25 fast break points, accounting for nearly a fourth of their total points scored for the day. By comparison, the Spurs scored just two fast break points of their own for the afternoon.

Getting out and running on the break and more importantly, capitalizing on those frequent opportunities jumpstarted the Bucks on multiple occasions, especially after a rather sluggish start to begin the game and after struggling to break through the Spurs’ zone defense adjustment for much of the second quarter.

While the contributors that are expected to make a big impact in that way, such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Eric Bledsoe and Jabari Parker, did just that, the team as a whole set the tone to keep putting the Spurs on their heels for the big runs the Bucks went on throughout the game.

Upping the pace over recent weeks, the Bucks certainly have played to their strengths in that way with the level of athletes they possess at key positions within their rotation. At this point, you can only hope for more of the same from here on out in what’s left in the year.
