Knick to watch

Combining an outstanding G League season with the Westchester Knicks with just how impactful he has been since landing back in the NBA proper, it’s been quite the year for Trey Burke.

The ninth pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, Burke had fallen out of the NBA after failing to make meaningful positive impacts with the Utah Jazz and Washington Wizards. Burke is still only 25, though, and as he has managed to show this season, he still has plenty of potential.

In 26 games in the G League with Westchester, Burke averaged 26.6 points per game on 48.8 percent shooting from the field and 41.6 percent from deep.

A key cog in the Knicks’ plans late in the season, Burke has continued to play well at the NBA level, averaging 12.8 points and 4.4 assists on 51.7 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from deep.

Burke is capable of getting hot in a hurry and rolling off big scoring runs of his own, but he can also be a steadier, facilitating presence if necessary. Milwaukee will have to be mindful of his impact on the game.
