As the NBA 2K League prepares for its inaugural season, Bucks Gaming were one of the 17 franchises to take part in Wednesday’s draft in New York.
As the NBA regular season winds down and the G League season prepares to come to its conclusion, the past week has also been a significant one for the NBA and the Milwaukee Bucks for a new and very different reason.
The NBA 2K League effectively became a reality on Wednesday, as 17 franchises, including Bucks Gaming, took part in the league’s inaugural draft in New York.
With a player pool that had been narrowed down to 102 over a two-month period that included a draft combine, each team was left to select six players, one for each position and a wildcard of sorts as a sixth man.
Bucks Gaming had the 10th pick in the first round, and opted to choose point guard DRAKE GRIFFIN, before filling their roster out from there.
As a brand new venture for the NBA, the league represents something of the unknown for many fans, and as a result, there are plenty of questions to be asked.
How exactly will games be played? Where will they be held? Will they be available to watch online or elsewhere? What are the financial incentives for players and teams? And why exactly has the NBA and a number of its teams decided to get into the eSports business?
Without further ado, let’s try to answer all of those questions, while also introducing you to the six players who make up the inaugural Bucks Gaming roster.
