Major key for Orlando – Move the ball

There isn’t a whole lot to pick from when it comes to weighing up what the Orlando Magic do well, but there is one element in particular that stands out.

The Magic are one of the league’s better assists teams, and they have a willingness to pass and move the ball that extends beyond that.

Averaging 23.5 assists per game, Orlando ranks 10th in the NBA in that particular category. The Magic also rank seventh in potential assists with 46.3 per game, which is defined as any pass to a teammate who shoots within one dribble.

The last time the two teams played, the Magic were able to pull and drag the Bucks out of position with purposeful passing, and then put it all together with an uncharacteristically hot shooting night which allowed them to reap the rewards.

If Milwaukee wants to avoid a repeat of that performance this time around, they’ll need to disrupt Orlando’s passing game.
