Milwaukee Bucks: Recent history with Boston Celtics
By Adam McGee
2016-17
(Season series: Celtics won 2-1)
The run of close games that played out between the Bucks and Celtics in the just completed regular season isn’t a new trend, as that was also true for much of the previous season.
The one exception to that came in the final game of the 2016-17 regular season, as the Bucks rested Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Matthew Dellavedova and Tony Snell, and fell to a 112-94 defeat against a full strength Celtics roster.
The two previous games in that season told a very different story, though.
The first matchup between the two teams ended up in overtime, where it took a 37-point performance from Isaiah Thomas to secure a four-point Boston win.
The other game between the teams resulted in Milwaukee’s sole win of that year against the Celtics, as a well-rounded team showing led by Antetokounmpo, Middleton, Malcolm Brogdon and Greg Monroe was closed out by a clutch shot from Brogdon to seal the deal late on.
