Head-to-Head

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Al Horford both played in all four of the games between the Bucks and Celtics this season. Expanding beyond that, both players have plenty of reason to feel good about how they played in those matchups.

Antetokounmpo averaged 33.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game in matchups with Boston, while shooting 53.9 percent from the field.

Giannis’ numbers were certainly helped by two outstanding performances, as he racked up 37 points and 13 rebounds in the season opening win, while he also dropped 40 points in a road loss to Boston later in the year.

While Horford may not quite have hit the high marks that Antetokounmpo did, he’s been particularly effective against Milwaukee too.

The 31-year-old outperformed his season averages against the Bucks, while shooting the lights out from across the floor. In total, Horford averaged 18.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists for his games against the Bucks, while shooting a remarkable 70.5 percent from the field and 60 percent from deep.

If either player can up their defensive impact to restrict the influence of the other on the offensive end, it could be decisive in the outcome of the series.
