Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 104-102 Game 4 win over Boston Celtics
Greek out!
It was not the smoothest of performances we’ve seen from him this season and this series specifically, but Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo rose up to the occasion to punctuate the victory when it was needed the most.
In nearly 40-and-a-half minutes, Antetokounmpo finished with a team-high 27 points on 12-of-20 shooting from the field (0-of-2 from three), seven rebounds, five assists, two turnovers and was a -8 for the day.
Offensively, the two-time All-Star was often seen settling for mid-range jumpers even with mismatches standing in his way, which was negated by a number of scoring opportunities in the open floor and opportunities generated by his teammates that he capitalized on throughout the first half.
But the rest in the halftime break proved to be the salve Antetokounmpo needed as he conjured up more success. Giannis even decided to give Al Horford a dose of the Aron Baynes treatment midway through the fourth quarter to give the Bucks a seven-point lead at the 3:59 mark of the period.
With all that said, it was admittedly frustrating to see Antetokounmpo play passive at times in the second half as he was acutely aware that he was veering into foul trouble (Antetokounmpo was even gesturing to his teammates that he had three fouls after knocking down a mid-ranger midway through the third quarter on the broadcast).
Of course, that’s part of having to live up to the lofty expectations that hang over him on a nightly basis, but there’s no question he saved the day for the Bucks with his second chance tip in off of Malcolm Brogdon’s drive to the basket with 5.1 seconds to go in the game. Now can someone please get this superstar a darn victory burrito?
