Semi Ojeleye is playing in his first playoff series, as a rookie who was selected 37th overall in last year’s draft. On Tuesday, he made his first playoff start, and in trying to replicate that performance on Thursday, he could be one of the most important players on the court in a potential series decider.
Ojeleye offered little on the offensive end on Tuesday, but he rebounded well and played a significant role in slowing down Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Antetokounmpo will clearly be the most important player on the court on Thursday, making the man tasked with stopping him as the logical close second.
Ojeleye possesses a mix of strength, size and quickness that allow him to push up on and be physical with Antetokounmpo, while also staying in front of him easier than Boston’s more traditional big men.
It’s a tall order to ask Ojeleye to prove just as effective at the second time of asking, but if he can be, the Celtics will feel good about their chances of winning.
