Milwaukee Bucks 2017-18 Season Review: Jason Terry
By Adam McGee
Summer focus and final grade
In the aftermath of his 19th season in the NBA, the question around Terry is less about what he will focus on this summer in terms of his game, and more about what he’ll look to do next year.
In recent years, Terry has made no secret of his goal of playing at least 20 seasons in the NBA, and he only doubled down on that when he spoke during Bucks’ exit interviews. On top of that, Terry left no doubt that he hopes to be a Buck once again next season.
"“I’m going to play another year. I can honestly stand here before you and tell you that all my efforts will be to come back with this organization. Obviously, I know my impact. I’ve been here two years now, and I want to see the finished product. Because I know the potential, I know where this organization is headed, and this year was another step — though we didn’t get the result we wanted — it was another step in the right direction. I know management, I’ve already had my discussions with them, and we’ll continue to talk throughout the summer. My intention is to come back here and finish it out here. I’m not saying it will be my final season, but I want to do 20 [seasons in the NBA] and then I’ll re-evaluate after that.”"
It was by no means a perfect season from Terry this year, but for the most part he delivered on what was asked of him.
That’s not to say the Bucks couldn’t find a more impactful veteran to fill in on a minimum deal at the end of the roster, but at the very least Terry continues to do just enough on and off the court to justify his consideration for that role.
Clearly a popular figure in the locker room, as well as something of a fan favorite, Terry continues to amaze at 40 years old, and will likely have a chance to do it all over again in Milwaukee’s new arena next season.
