NBA Draft 2018 Prospect Watch: Kevin Knox II
Strengths
All along through his stops in the amateur ranks, Knox’s ability to score from all three levels of the floor at a high output has long been the most alluring aspect of his game.
That shone through during his lone season in Lexington this year, though not as consistently as was initially expected. In his 37 appearances with the Wildcats this year, Knox averaged 15.6 points on shooting splits of .447/.341/.774.
While Knox’s scoring numbers may stand solid to good, depending on your point of view, it’s essential to point out that the Florida native stood as the rare floor spacer for a Kentucky team that was challenged greatly when it came to generating offense from beyond the perimeter.
Despite that, Knox displayed the kind of scoring craft that could be further realized when he plays in an NBA setting with modern spacing, and in the position that utilizes his size and skills adequately, provided that he plays under the right situation.
Along with that, Knox stands as one of the youngest players in this year’s draft class as he won’t turn 19 years old until mid-August. What that means for his developmental curve is big when it comes to where he ultimately will be selected on June 21.
