Quotes:
Chris Stone of the Sporting News believes that while Knox still has to refine the more translatable parts of his game, what he’s shown so far at his young age illustrates just how useful he may end up being for any team with where the game is at in today’s NBA:
"“Although he shot just 34.1 percent from deep, his shooting inputs, including 1.9 made 3s per 40 minutes and a 77.4 free throw percentage, are positive indicators of future success. Knox doesn’t necessarily project as a high-upside play, but prospects in his archetype are extremely valuable in the modern NBA.”"
Along those same lines, Mike Gribanov of The Stepien surmised that Knox’s inconsistencies with Kentucky this year should be taken into account when evaluating his game while also considering that his role on the pro level may flesh out the hype that has long followed him at this point:
"“Knox has the ideal physical profile for a modern combo forward, and while he isn’t the high level athlete that I had hoped he would be coming into the year, he still moves quite well at his size. Considering his age, there are plenty of reasons to hope that he is able to reach some further untapped potential as he continues to progress in his career. At the same time, Knox’s season has been incredibly inconsistent on a game by game basis, while at the same time nothing about his actual basketball skill set, as it currently stands, is particularly noteworthy. His statistical profile doesn’t match the lottery hype but we’ve seen Kentucky players blossom in the NBA, once they are away from the restrictive roles that Calipari boxes many of his players into.”"
