The best of Wilson

Having only registered 71 minutes across 22 appearances with the Bucks, the bulk of Wilson’s playing time came on assignment with the Wisconsin Herd this year.

Among the many benefits of now having the Herd as part of the organization, having a place for unseasoned players like Wilson to earn significant playing time under the watchful eye of first-year head coach Jordan Brady gave an opportunity that wasn’t available to raw Bucks rookies like the Michigan product in the past.

There’s an argument to be made that Wilson would have benefited from having longer stays on assignment than the temporary single game stays he often got this year, but the team’s many injury issues this year likely played a factor in having him available with the Bucks in case of emergency.

Regardless, it was apparent to see what kind of role Wilson could carve out when he was on point while with the Herd, should he mold into something useful in the future.

Being able to spot up to knock down shots from three, provide energy by running the floor effectively and providing solid help defense are qualities that teams are always looking for from versatile forwards.

In total, Wilson averaged 15.9 points on shooting splits of .471/.340/1.000, along with 5.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists across his 11 appearances with the Herd this season. Not world beating numbers by any means, but a tolerable return for an incredibly green player like Wilson, who ought to have soaked up more minutes with the Herd than he ultimately got.
