NBA Draft 2018 Prospect Watch: Anfernee Simons
By Adam McGee
Coming out of IMG Academy and foregoing college play, Anfernee Simons is one of the youngest and most intriguing guards in this year’s NBA Draft class.
Who is Anfernee Simons?
Anfernee Simons is one of the youngest players in this year’s NBA draft, and the latest player to skip college play en route to the pro ranks.
Much like Milwaukee Bucks center Thon Maker did prior to landing in the NBA, Simons has spent a post-graduate year at a specialized academy school, in this case IMG Academy in Florida, making him one year removed from high school and eligible for the draft.
Currently slated for the middle to late portion of the first round by many, Simons committed to Louisville prior to the dismissal of Rick Pitino and is good friends with Donovan Mitchell, a player who faced similar mid first round projections last year before going on to put in a Rookie of the Year caliber season.

In terms of measurements, Simons is a 6’4″ guard with a 6’6″ wingspan, and a listed weight of around 180lbs.
For all of the talent and potential he has showcased in his time in high school, his frame will be very slight for an NBA guard, and even more so considering his current skill set is more equiped to playing as a shooting guard rather than a point guard.
So without further ado, let’s break down Anfernee Simons’ game further, examine how draft experts rate him at this moment in time and evaluate his potential fit with the Milwaukee Bucks.
