Milwaukee Bucks 2017-18 Season Review: John Henson
The worst of Henson
The dips Henson endured for spells this season hardly come as a surprise this long into his stint with the Bucks and the NBA in general.
We obviously know the physical disadvantages Henson faces when going up against more stout, traditional centers in the way of Hassan Whiteside, Andre Drummond or DeAndre Jordan. The same even rings true for a floor spacing big that has no trouble launching up three-pointer after three-pointer in the vein of a Kevin Love or even a journeyman like Marreese Speights.
Of course, there’s also the little knocks and injuries that the former Tar Heel picks up that set off the poor run of forms like we saw at times from him after the All-Star break this year.
When things like that come about, it can go beyond just affecting Henson’s on court performance as the mental aspect of having to clear those hurdles time and time again can be draining over the course of a regular season.
In the end, those cyclical circumstances have been the bane of Henson’s career up until this point, which is what makes him such a maddening player to watch when he isn’t quite up to snuff.
