Milwaukee Bucks 2017-18 Season Review: Brandon Jennings
The worst of Jennings
Unfortunately, all of the maddening traits and inconsistencies that have long been attached to Jennings’ game stood the test of time from his first stint with the Bucks to his second one this year.
Of course, that starts with Jennings’ inefficient scoring as he logged shooting splits of .344/.339/.851 while with the Herd and .375/.273/1.000 as a member of the Bucks.
Jennings’ ineffectiveness scoring the ball and maintaining average shooting marks stems from his appetite for relying on creating shots with a high degree of difficulty regularly, to the detriment of his play and his teams’ offensive flow.
On the other end of the floor, Jennings offered little to no resistance defending the ball at the point of attack with both the Herd and the Bucks. He’s never been a strong defender throughout his time in the NBA, but the lack of effort shown to simply compete defensively left a lot to be desired upon his return.
And lastly, Jennings’ impact on the floor was truly abysmal as he registered a -15.8 net rating in the 205 minutes he played for the Bucks this year, per NBA.com/stats. There’s obviously more that goes into that beyond Jennings’ play itself, but it’s still not a good look when he was primarily facing opposing second units.
