The worst of Zeller

Considering he stands as a more traditional, throwback center, there’s definitely a limit to what Zeller can offer when he steps on the floor.

While there was some intrigue over his budding ability to extend his range from beyond the arc, seeing that he had knocked down 10 of his 28 attempts from three while as a member of the Nets this year, Zeller’s bread and butter stood firmly in the paint, aside from putting up a rare elbow jumper.

Switching sides, Zeller’s defensive acumen left a bit to be desired, even under a low set of expectations.

Despite his savvy positioning and holding his own when switched on to ball handlers occasionally, Zeller did little to utilize his reported seven-foot wingspan to alter shots or generally disrupt his assignment from getting downhill to the rim, cuing up the Ricky Bobby “I don’t know what to with my hands” gif from certain sections of Bucks fans (ok, it was me).

Lastly, Zeller had an underwhelming impact throughout the Bucks’ first round series with the Boston Celtics. Across his seven appearances, Zeller finished with 1.6 points on 80 percent shooting from the field and 2 rebounds while registering a -23 net rating in a total of 66 minutes on the court.
