Milwaukee Bucks 2017-18 Season Review: Tyler Zeller
Game of the season
In what was undoubtedly one of the most roller coastery games the Bucks played in this season, Zeller loomed large in a positive sense in the team’s 118-110 win over the Philadelphia 76ers back on March 4.
With both John Henson and Thon Maker struggling to do so in their respective runs on the floor, Zeller was unenviably tasked with doing what he could to slow down 76ers big man, Joel Embiid.
However, it was a battle that swung in the North Carolina product’s favor as his size and general know how offered more resistance than expected to quietly flummox the one-time All-Star’s outing as his night wore on.
Combining that with his sound rim running ability and impactful off ball movement off of pick and rolls, Zeller opened up scoring opportunities for himself and others to help kick start the Bucks’ offensive flow when they were going on their extended runs throughout the evening.
Unfortunately, Zeller’s night was capped off with a scary moment as he went up to go for an easy dunk off of corralling a turnover and was undercut by Embiid as he put the ball through the basket, which gave all Bucks fans a pit in their stomach after watching something similar unfold with Andrew Bogut back in the 2009-10 season.
Playing exactly 20 minutes on the night, Zeller posted 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field (1-for-1 from the free throw line), five rebounds, a steal and block each and was a +22.
Zeller was luckily able to return two games later after having to leave the game early following his nasty fall, alleviating most Bucks fans who feared the worst for him after the incident.
