NBA Draft: Could Lonnie Walker IV be the dynamic guard the Bucks need?
Weaknesses
Considering he missed the bulk of last year’s offseason due to his meniscus tear, NBA teams will do plenty of homework on Walker’s health due to how much of his game relies around his athleticism and physical tools.
Beyond that, plenty of concern surrounding Walker lies in his developing handle and overall playmaking ability.
As it relates to the latter, Walker’s distribution and vision to suss out potential reads leaves a lot to be desired at this stage in his game. That was certainly backed up by the fact Walker tallied 1.9 assists on a 22.4 usage percentage in Miami this year, per Sports-Reference.com.
Lastly, for all the athleticism and craft he displays when dashing towards the rim, Walker could stand to refine his finishing ability at the basket.
According to The Stepien’s shot chart tool created by Will Schreefer, Walker converted just 55 of his 96 attempts at the hoop this year (57.3 percent), which ranked him in the 34th percentile.
