Fit With Bucks

Considering his age, Dedmon isn’t the most natural long-term fit for the Bucks, but he may provide an ideal template for Milwaukee to build their new identity around at the center position.

In many ways, Dedmon is a more consistent and polished version of Thon Maker, although Maker’s upside is considerably greater. Dedmon can provide shot-blocking, rebounding and solid positioning to help anchor a defense, while his new-found three-point shooting makes him an increasingly dynamic option offensively.

With his combination of size and mobility, Dedmon certainly wouldn’t look out of place on the Bucks, and then, of course, there’s the Budenholzer element.

Dedmon produced a career-year under the guidance of Budenholzer and his coaching staff, showing notable improvements on the offensive end of the floor. With that familiarity and confidence, perhaps there’ll be a feeling on both sides that there’s more that can be parsed out from that connection.

With three centers already on the roster and Henson being paid handsomely, paying a fourth center is a tough notion to stomach for the Bucks. However, if they could open up one of those spots, Dedmon’s tools, game and background make for an intriguing fit in Milwaukee.
