Fit with the Bucks

For as high-profile as the trade the Bucks made to acquire Eric Bledsoe mere weeks into the now-completed 2017-18 season was, a long-term solution at the point guard position still remains unresolved.

Make no mistake, the Bucks hold solid-to-fine point guards on their roster, whether that’s Bledsoe (his awful playoff series notwithstanding) or second-year guard Malcolm Brogdon, who reasserted his Rookie of the Year award-winning status in his injury shortened sophomore season this year.

However, no game changing or star-level point guards are presently on this roster, leaving many fans to wonder whether the Bucks will possibly entertain overhauling that area of the roster and/or call for an unceremonious end to the Bledsoe era under new head coach Mike Budenholzer this offseason.

In virtually all outcomes, Brunson doesn’t stand as the foundation-changing solution for the Bucks at point guard, despite how incredibly well-rounded his game is at this point in time.

With that said, a player of Brunson’s varied and unflappable qualities would be welcome for a Bucks team that is clearly looking to establish stability across all aspects of the team and organization as a whole.

Considering his range has been tabbed from late in the first round to early in the second round, Brunson will likely be available once the Bucks are on the clock at 17 on June 21. But it’s hard to imagine Brunson rising on the Bucks’ personal board enough to be considered at that spot, leaving plenty of murkiness over how he could possibly end up in Milwaukee on draft night.

As has been thoroughly noted here and elsewhere across corners of the Bucks fan community, therein lies the rub if the Bucks are intent on adding more than one projected role player just 10 days from now.
