Weaknesses

The biggest concern revolving around Allen as he’s set to make the jump to the next level lies in how he’ll fare on the defensive end.

After all, the former Blue Devil more or less stood as a sieve defensively during his time in college and the jump in athleticism and physicality in the NBA will only exaggerate his limitations on that side of the floor.

Secondly, there is some concern over how much Allen’s athleticism diminished after adding some strength to his frame between his junior and senior seasons.

That certainly showed in his below average finishing numbers this year as Allen only converted 35 of his 60 attempts at the rim (58.3 percent), per Will Schreefer’s shot chart tool over at The Stepien.

Lastly, at his age and considering his development has seen more incremental progress over his last two seasons, Allen certainly doesn’t carry the desired upside compared to the many underclassmen in this draft, which has played a factor in his draft stock to this point.
