Fit with Bucks

From one cap strapped team to another, there’s a number of factors to consider when envisioning Scott’s potential fit with the Bucks.

First, the Bucks are obviously set to deal with what could be a lengthy free agency with fourth-year forward Jabari Parker, who stands as an impending restricted free agent.

The Bucks are under a win-now window with Giannis Antetokounmpo coming into a superstar the last couple of seasons and while Parker was rightly viewed as a cornerstone at one point, his injury related red flags as well as his many flaws on both ends of the floor make his future in Milwaukee very murky at this point in time.

Even as Parker’s free agency stands as the highest priority for the Bucks, they will likely have to address some holes on their roster with limited resources of their own, one area being their forward spots.

Again, a lot of this hangs on what happens with Parker this summer, but the dearth of serviceable reserve forwards to help space out the floor for Antetokounmpo and others is noticeably absent, especially after the unrealized singing of Mirza Teletovic, whose career is more or less permanently sidelined for health reasons.

The Bucks may hope internally that D.J. Wilson could be up to the task in his second season next year, but that stands as a big if at this point after notching 71 minutes of NBA game action in his rookie campaign this year.

If the Bucks are keen on finding a more proven player in that regard, Scott certainly fits that bill and the addition of Budenholzer could stand as a key factor if he’s interested in reuniting with his former coach of four-and-a-half seasons.

However, it’s hard seeing the Bucks, or any team for that matter, making a long-term commitment to Scott, due to his age and the concerns that he may be due to experience some regression in his shooting percentages.

A lot hangs up in the air for the Bucks when it comes to filling out their forward spots this offseason and there’s many directions they can take to address those holes. But Scott checks a number of boxes that would be useful to the Bucks and if he’s unable to land a longer, more lasting deal, Milwaukee may be the right next stop in his career.
