How DiVincenzo Fits The Bucks

In terms of the role he projects to play with the Bucks, there are a few aspects to like regarding DiVincenzo and acclimating him within the roster and overall rotation.

Of course, the shooting and general shot-making DIVincenzo is able to provide will be useful when filling out more modern, spaced out lineups around superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and the overall nucleus for the Bucks.

Additionally, having a player of DiVincenzo’s character and high drive are key qualities to see in a prospect when projecting their development, despite how fully formed the former Wildcat is at this point.

The defensive angle, however, of what DiVincenzo has to offer is too big a concern to ignore and it will be up to new head coach Mike Budenholzer and his staff to identify the best use for him to pass as a net neutral defender on the NBA level at the very least.

And the relative lack of upside present in DiVincenzo’s game has certainly sparked some of the criticism or polarization revolving around the selection from sections of Bucks fans.

But as I stated when profiling him in the lead up to the draft, DiVincenzo represents a change in draft philosophy on the Bucks’ part and with their roster lacking serviceable and more importantly, consistent role players, Jon Horst and Co. must feel assured that DiVincenzo can fulfill a useful role and spark the team overall.

Whether he’ll hit the ground running is the big question surrounding DiVincenzo now that he’s Milwaukee bound. Seeing that he’s managed to thrive in a similar role on the college level and under a pro-level system, he’s earned the benefit of the doubt that he can be a fine complementary piece, if everything breaks his way.
