JaVale McGee

The butt of jokes around the NBA for most of his career, JaVale McGee has enjoyed a renaissance of sorts in the past couple of seasons as he became a capable and important contributor to the best team in the league.

If McGee’s image has been rehabilitated by his play with the Warriors, the next question is what can the athletic center do and achieve over the rest of his career.

McGee’s physical tools have never been up for questioning as his combination of size and athleticism always created the potential for a player who could be incredibly impactful on both ends of the floor.

Instead, it’s an apparent change in attitude or a delayed maturity that has transformed the 30-year-old’s career and reputation. Will that carry over to a different team with a culture that isn’t quite as stable as Golden State’s?

That all-important question is difficult to answer. From a Bucks’ perspective, what can be said is McGee could certainly help the Bucks in terms of rebounding and interior defense, while acting as an exciting rim-runner in transition.

With a rumored interest in McGee not too long ago, perhaps the Bucks will be prepared to take the risk to find out how his attitude translates to new surroundings.
