NBA Free Agency: Is Glenn Robinson III a low risk, high reward signing for the Bucks?
Weaknesses
For as far as Robinson has come along in his development since entering the league, the former Wolverine could stand to further fill out his game and reinforce his ever-developing strong suits.
On that last point, the rather low volume of three-point attempts that Robinson has launched since reworking his shooting mechanics may give some fans or teams pause that he is capable of knocking down shots at the same rate over a higher number of attempts.
But the biggest area of need for Robinson to expand his offensive repertoire is boosting his off the dribble capabilities.
As Caitlin Cooper of Indy Cornrows wrote about during last summer, Robinson was focusing on refining his ability to create with the ball in his hands during offseason workouts, especially in navigating pick and roll situations.
While Robinson’s complementary scoring will always be the focus of his appeal offensively, being able to act as secondary ball-handler or beef up his playmaking abilities will go a long way in the 24-year-old’s utilization wherever he lands.
Of course, it should go without saying that Robinson’s compressed campaign this year looms over any discussion regarding his development.
Without many meaningful opportunities as well as shaking off the rust after being sidelined for the majority of the year, the next steps he’s made in progressing his development has yet to be fully fleshed out in game action at this point.
