NBA Free Agency: Is Glenn Robinson III a low risk, high reward signing for the Bucks?
Salary
As he heads into unrestricted free agency this coming weekend, Robinson will soon have completed a three-year deal worth roughly $3.5 million.
Considering the circumstances surrounding his career at the point of his signing and the Pacers’ timeline to win now with then-star Paul George, it has become a shrewd signing by then-president of basketball operations Larry Bird.
But as his deal is about to officially expire, it appears the team’s newly established timeline and Robinson’s development may not be aligned as was once envisioned not that long ago.
After all, the Pacers stand as one of the more intriguing teams around the league during this year’s free agency due to potentially being one of the rare few teams that could have a significant amount of cap space.
They’ve already made moves to further boost their flexibility this summer as seen in their decision to decline Lance Stephenson‘s team option Monday afternoon as Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports first reported.
While a number of decisions are still yet to be decided to make them even bigger players in free agency, ESPN’s Chris Haynes reported Monday afternoon that both Tyreke Evans and Will Barton stand as the team’s prime free agent targets.
Seeing that they’re both wings approaching or firmly in the prime of their respective careers, that may be a strong indication that the door for Robinson’s return may be close to shutting completely.
Of course, there’s been nothing to explicitly suggest that at this time, but that could very well be enough for Robinson to look out for what’s best for him once the free agency period officially opens.
