NBA Free Agency: Is Glenn Robinson III a low risk, high reward signing for the Bucks?
Fit with Bucks
As my fellow co-site expert Adam McGee led off on his piece of 10 potential veteran minimum free agent targets Tuesday, the mere possibility of Robinson donning a Bucks uniform will undoubtedly produce a high level of nostalgia for fans.
Being the son of former Bucks great Glenn Robinson, who went on to enjoy eight productive seasons in Milwaukee after being taken first overall in the 1994 NBA Draft, Robinson III would naturally give more long-time fans a strange, full circle moment if it were to become a reality.
Beyond the sentimental reasons surrounding the idea of bringing in Robinson, the four-year pro’s fit in Milwaukee is certainly an interesting one with where the Bucks are at this stage in their timeline.
We’ve talked at length in past free agent profiles about how the Bucks are in need of addressing their forward depth with questions looming over Jabari Parker‘s impending free agency and D.J. Wilson‘s development and overall inexperience.
Add in the financial constraints they will be dealing with this summer as well, barring moving a hefty salary off their books via trade, the Bucks will have to scour the bargain bin to fill any holes within their roster. Through no fault of his own, Robinson pegs to be exactly that due to how this season went for him in terms of his injury.
That isn’t to say he’s a reclamation project by any means, but the idea of helping Robinson get back on track in terms of his career trajectory is an alluring one, especially with the addition of new head coach Mike Budenholzer and his newly implemented staff.
And given his physical profile, positional versatility, developing offensive skill set and overall upside, Robinson could be a nice long-term play to take on from the Bucks’ perspective. The anecdotes of Robinson’s high character and work ethic are other marks to keep in mind as that will naturally lead to the Bucks gravitating towards that direction.

With the limited options available to them, the Bucks could do a lot worse than exploring what Robinson has to offer in free agency, given how tailor made the fit projects to be with where their roster is at the moment and where it could possibly be in due time.
