Trevor Ariza

Set to turn 33 on the eve of free agency, Trevor Ariza continues to be an incredibly effective and versatile NBA forward.

Ariza has been the picture of consistency in his four seasons with the Rockets, providing Houston with a capable shooter and defender who possesses great positional size and is well-equipped to deal with switching.

There are better shooters and better defenders than Ariza, but he offers a package of the two that’s very well-rounded and capable of providing value in a variety of different roles.

At this point in his NBA career, a regression is inevitably not too far away for Ariza. That would make a multi-year deal inadvisable, but certainly doesn’t do anything to suggest Ariza couldn’t deliver really valuable contributions to a good team over the next season or two.

Ariza is more than capable as a fourth or fifth starter on a good team, but would make for an incredible luxury as a depth piece deeper in a playoff team’s rotation.

With the Bucks certainly lacking in depth behind Antetokounmpo and Middleton at the forward spots, and with the potential to be further depleted if Jabari Parker leaves in free agency, Ariza could certainly be a player capable of solidifying the rotation and rounding out their depth chart with shooting, defense and experience.
