Brook Lopez

A former All-Star and one of the league’s most productive offensive-minded centers across the course of his career, Brook Lopez makes for an incredibly interesting case as he hits free agency at the age of 30.

Lopez played a lesser role than he had at any previous point in his career following the trade that sent him to the young and rebuilding Lakers, yet he provided little indication that he still couldn’t offer more if he was given sufficient opportunity.

Lopez averaged 13 points in just 23.4 minutes per game in L.A., following consecutive years averaging over 20 points per game with the Brooklyn Nets.

What Lopez did prove with the Lakers was a continued willingness to step out to the perimeter and spread the floor, something which added to his elite scoring instincts around the rim and from the mid-range makes him even more interesting heading into the latter stages of his career.

The concern with Lopez will be whether his body will hold up in the years to come, particularly for any teams considering offering him multi-year deals. Foot injuries are always particularly troublesome for centers, and Lopez’s history is somewhat extensive in that regard.

For the Bucks, Lopez could offer Milwaukee a high caliber scoring option at center, unlike they’ve arguably ever had with this roster. His defense and consistency as a rebounder can certainly be questioned, but Lopez’s size alone may be able to help Milwaukee in both of those departments in spurts.
