Weaknesses

For as much as O’Quinn is able to stretch his capabilities beyond the limited role that he’s often expected to fill, there’s a cap to what he can provide as a modern day 5.

That significantly applies to his ability to space the floor from beyond the arc, seeing that he’s just hit 22.3 percent of his 103 three-point attempts throughout his career.

While his solid free throwing shooting numbers (O’Quinn’s a career 74.5 percent free throw shooter) are an indication that he holds solid shooting mechanics, it just hasn’t translated to extending his range from downtown at an effective rate.

Secondly, seeing that he’s firmly in the prime of his playing career at 28 years old, O’Quinn is more or less what he is as a player.

As a result, it’s tough to peg the New York native as simply a rotation piece or something resembling a fifth starter on a solid-to-good team. The consistency issues that O’Quinn has dealt with at times throughout his six years in the league has only complicated that concern as well.

Depending on where he lands in free agency, should that be outside of the Big Apple, we may have our answer to that question.
