Brandon McCoy
Another undrafted player from this year’s NBA Draft, Brandon McCoy will be looking to get his professional career off the ground starting at this year’s Summer League with the Bucks.
McCoy will be playing in the very city where he spent his lone season on the college level as he went to school at the University of Las Vegas-Nevada. With the Runnin’ Rebels, McCoy finished with 16.9 points on 54.5 percent shooting from the field, along with 10.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 33 appearances last season.
A throwback to centers of yesteryear, McCoy stands as a true seven-footer who is most comfortable excelling with his back to the basket at this stage in his development.
With that said, Sam Vecenie of The Athletic noted that teams around the league are optimistic that the former McDonald’s All-American may be able to extend his shooting range as well as other details following the report of his Summer League deal with the Bucks after this year’s draft:
"“McCoy will be with the Bucks for the summer league. At 7-1, he would have been near a lottery pick a decade ago after averaging 17 points and 10 rebounds as a freshman at UNLV. But now, there are questions about his translation. Still, he’s a better athlete than he gets credit for and apparently shot it well in a few workouts for teams thinking they might be able to stretch his range.”"
Depending on how successful his first Summer League venture goes, Bucks fans may want to keep a close eye on McCoy, provided he gets meaningful opportunity to showcase his talents.
