The wait for Donte continues

While many of the league’s fanbases have had the chance to get excited about the play of their first round picks across the first few days of Summer League, there’s been no such luck for those watching on from a Milwaukee Bucks’ perspective.

The wait continues for Donte DiVincenzo‘s debut, as he remained sidelined during Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks due to a minor right groin injury.

Although it’s possible that DiVincenzo could suit up for the Bucks for the very first time on Monday night, that remains very much in doubt.

According to Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Summer League head coach Taylor Jenkins revealed that the 17th overall pick remains on track with the team’s plan for his recovery, and Monday could be a pivotal day in measuring his progress.

"“His plan’s still in a good place,” Jenkins said. “Good work day yesterday, he’s having a good work day tomorrow. We’ll just keep evaluating, seeing how he responds every day. … Tomorrow’s going to be a good day to see where he’s at.”"

All signs indicate that the former Villanova Wildcat is close to a return to health, and although it would be incredibly exciting to get to see him play in Vegas, the Bucks are right to err on the side of caution with one eye on the longer term impact DiVincenzo could have as a rookie.
