As tournament play gets underway in Summer League, the San Antonio Spurs stand between the Milwaukee Bucks and the second round in Las Vegas.

After two full days of rest, the Milwaukee Bucks’ return to Summer League action on Thursday night will coincide with the start of their tournament run for 2018.

If recent history is anything to suggest, Milwaukee’s run in the tournament may just amount to the single first round game against the San Antonio Spurs, yet heading into the game there’s every reason to believe the Bucks could come out on top.

The Spurs come into the first round with a 1-2 record to match the Bucks, but a lesser point differential following games against the Portland Trail Blazers, Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards.

Lonnie Walker, the 18th overall pick in this year’s draft, will likely headline the Spurs’ team, with capable support from players like Jaron Blossomgame, Cory Jefferson and Chimezie Metu. Derrick White could be a difference maker if he suits up, but having played in Utah Summer League and sat out the Spurs most recent game in Vegas, he may be finished for Summer League play this year.

Win or lose, the next opponent for the Bucks and Spurs will come from the game between the Phoenix Suns and Philadelphia 76ers. The question is which two teams continue in the tournament, and which two wrap up their stay in Vegas with a consolation game.

With all of that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the key elements to watch out for ahead of Thursday’s matchup with the Spurs.
