Continued improvement as a scorer

Although a combination of injuries and fatigue may have ultimately caused him to drop off a little as the season progressed, Antetokounmpo played the first half of the season as a legitimate contender for the league’s scoring title.

When all was said and done, the Greek had to settle for fifth in that race with an average of 26.9 points per game. Still, with only James Harden, Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Damian Lillard ahead of him, there’s no disputing his progression into the top tier of NBA scorers.

With five NBA seasons now under his belt, Antetokounmpo has remarkably improved by at least four points per game on a year-to-year basis.

Expecting something similar is likely too tall of a task for him in the upcoming season — although that would almost certainly secure him a scoring title this time around — but continuing to edge his way up that order should still be an aim.

Antetokounmpo continues to find new ways to add to his scoring repertoire, and even a slight improvement in his accuracy from three-point range could lead to another meaningful jump on his overall averages in 2018-19.

With the moves the Bucks have made heading into the season, Antetokounmpo should have a higher caliber of teammate in reserve across the roster, but the need for him to still be Milwaukee’s driving force hasn’t lessened at all. The Athens native is already a great scorer, but every further improvement can help his team to move closer to the league’s best teams.
