Milwaukee Bucks: Getting to know new two-way player Trevon Duval
Who is Trevon Duval?
Born in Queens, New York, Duval spent the majority of his early life growing up in New Castle, Delaware.
It was there where Duval developed his love of basketball with the help of his father Trevor, who played an integral part in steering him towards the sport and learning the ins and outs of the game.
That guidance, like many father and son bonds through sports, wasn’t without a little bit of a tough love as Duval explained to CBS Sports’ Reid Forgrave earlier this year:
"“We’d go to the YMCA in New Castle to work out,” Trevon Duval said. “My dad used to go there and play sometimes, and I’d play on the side with younger kids, but when we went there to work out, it’d be an empty gym, just me and him. I wouldn’t like whatever he was saying. He’d just get on me. If I didn’t want to play, if I acted like a baby, he’d say, ‘Run laps.’ Or, ‘Do pushups.’ ” “There were times when I’d be in a game and he’d talk to me too much, and I’d just say, ‘Shut up, leave me alone,’ ” he continued. “But it all helped me come to where I am now.”"
While Duval played for Saint Benedict’s Preparatory School for his freshman and sophomore seasons in high school, he later transferred on two occasions to Advanced Prep International in Dallas for his junior campaign before finishing out playing for IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for his senior year.
Along with the stops he experienced in high school, Duval bolstered his name as a prospect on the AAU circuit, which all laid the groundwork for him becoming the sixth-best recruit in his class, per 247 Sports.
Then on May 15, 2017, Duval announced his plans to attend Duke University and play under legendary head coach Mike Krzyzewski via The Players’ Tribune.
