Connaughton’s fit with the Bucks

Now that he’s reportedly being added to the mix, it’s easy to see the appeal for the Bucks in Connaughton’s services when looking at his full repertoire.

The Bucks have prized versatility, shooting and intangibles in all of their moves between this year’s draft and in free agency so far to fashion their roster ahead of Coach Bud’s maiden voyage helming the franchise.

Of course, building a blueprint that is conducive to superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s all-encompassing capabilities stands as the primary directive for Bucks general manager Jon Horst and Co., and Connaughton is yet another peek into that vision that they have been adhering to this offseason.

As far as where he fits on the depth chart, the addition of Connaughton adds to the increasingly crowded wing crop the Bucks currently have in Tony Snell, Sterling Brown and depending on your view of his natural position, Donte DiVincenzo.

With that said, as well stocked as the wing rotation looks to be on paper, Connaughton gives Budenholzer and the Bucks overall a different dimension than Snell currently possesses and Brown and DiVincenzo project to have at this stage.

DiVincenzo, in particular, may be the player to highlight here that Connaughton will likely slot in ahead of, considering the Villanova product’s NBA inexperience and getting ahead of any growing pains he may go through during his rookie season and beyond.

At the very least, the Bucks are covering their bases here by bringing in Connaughton and simultaneously adding another flavor to the varied looks they could sport in their rotation over the course of the regular season next year.
