Ease into acting as a facilitator

While DiVincenzo’s scoring potential is often cited as his main appeal as a player, DiVincenzo also has the ability to affect the game with how he operates as a playmaker.

DiVincenzo comfortably doubled his assist total from 1.7 assists per game (61 total) during his redshirt freshman campaign two years ago to 3.5 assists per game last year (139 total).

Despite his solid distribution numbers in the stat sheet, DiVincenzo has plenty of room to grow in terms of cleaning up on tallying turnovers, seeing that he posted a 1.19 assist-to-turnover ratio in 2016-17 and had a 1.76 assist-to-turnover ratio in 2017-18.

Nonetheless, DiVincenzo’s pick-and-roll prowess, both in scoring and dishing it out, gives cause for optimism for his feel for the game on the next level. Per Synergy Sports’ scouting report on DiVincenzo before the draft, 12.7 percent of the Big Ragu’s possessions last year came in those situations and he put up 1.10 points per possession, which ranked in the 97th percentile of players around the country.

There are certainly steps that need to be made in order to become more sound in this regard, but DiVincenzo’s aspirations to be a well rounded contributor as well as his budding playmaking chops may lead to his deferential play taking the next step throughout his rookie season.
