Become a fabric in small ball lineups

This may be unconventional and goes beyond the traditional goals regarding a potential role throughout the year, but Brown’s skill-set and versatility has made him essential in any conversation regarding the Bucks’ small ball capabilities.

A big part in dissecting a team’s roster construction nowadays is examining different lineup configurations or finding a team’s own fully potent closing lineup a la “The Death Lineup” the Golden State Warriors famously trot out at the end of games.

At this stage, it’s obviously unclear where the Bucks stand in this regard with the moves they made this offseason as well as adding in Budenholzer’s preferences. With that said, the bedrock of such lineups are there for the Bucks with superstar Giannis Antetokoummpo, the well rounded Khris Middleton and Malcolm Brogdon and Eric Bledsoe.

From there, that fifth and final spot in small ball lineups is up for grabs and Brown seems to be the leading candidate to take it heading into the year, based on his potential and his aforementioned package of talents.

After all, the Bucks’ first round playoff series against the Boston Celtics was a perfect example of what they were missing without Brown on the floor when they went small under the previous coaching regime.

It’s certainly premature to pencil in Brown before we see his level of play or what form he is in throughout the season, but if he’s able to string the flashes we saw from last year into a consistent product, he’ll be the logical fit to tie together any Bucks lineup that’s in need of versatility.
