Act as inside scoring threat
Lopez’s ability to stretch the floor will be paramount to any offensive success the Bucks will experience this season. With that said, there’s still a use for his tried and true inside scoring that long stood as his calling card throughout his NBA career.
As he’s cut out the bulk of his mid-range scoring opportunities due to unleashing his marksmanship from long range, the breadth of Lopez’s inside scoring comes in the form of post ups or the occasional driving finish at the rim.
Regarding his post-up prowess, Lopez posted 0.95 points per possession, a number that ranked him in the 72nd percentile of players around the league last season. Additionally, Lopez tallied a 60.2 field goal percentage on his 83 driving field goal attempts he logged last year.
All of those positive marks helped Lopez total a 54.9 two-point percentage in Los Angeles last season, which stands as the second highest two-point percentage he’s finished with during his time in the league.
Not only can Lopez be depended on to supply the occasional basket from within the arc, but he can do the same for acting as an outlet for his teammates to garner scoring opportunities as well. Hopefully, we’ll see all that come to fruition this season.
