Keep up scoring efficiency
Having long been a limited and opportunistic scorer, last year saw Henson enjoy his most efficient season to date in his six-year career across his raw and advanced production.
Averaging 8.8 points throughout his 76 appearances last year (another career-high, by the way), Henson posted a 57.2 field goal percentage, a 57.3 effective field goal percentage and 58.2 true shooting percentage.
Delve deeper and the bulk of Henson’s increase in efficiency can be tied to his finishing at or around the basket where he put down 71.1 percent of his 287 attempts from within 0-3 feet of the hoop, per Basketball-Reference.com.
That’s undeniably a great return for a player of Henson’s caliber and there are promising signs that could continue based on the offensive refurbishing they’re undergoing at the moment with the arrival of Coach Bud. The dedication to increased ball movement as well as player movement and spacing the floor could lead to Henson feasting on more high quality and uncontested looks near the basket than ever before.
To what kind of looks Henson could potentially see in the coming campaign, we’ll have to wait and see, especially with the reduced role he’s likely to have as well.
