B. If this grade was broken into two halves, Mike Budenholzer would receive an ‘A’ for the first half and a well-deserved ‘C’ for the second half.

In the opening half, the Bucks were continuing their excellent showing from the preseason, as they scored 67 points (for a 108.7 offensive rating) that included hitting 11-of-22 from three. The spacing that the offense creates was working as planned, and the Bucks led by as much as 20 in the first half.

However, the second half was a much different story, as the offense sputtered as Giannis was on the bench with foul trouble. In the fourth quarter, the offense struggled to create good looks for most of the period, as the team relied on Giannis and Middleton post-ups without much movement away from the ball.

Budenholzer also seemed hesitant to make changes on the defensive end, specifically with how the team was guarding Kemba Walker pick and rolls. The Bucks continued to drop the big man until Walker was well over 30 points for the game.

That being said, the good elements of the win are a warm welcome, and the bad elements seem to be coachable fixes that can be eliminated as this team gets more comfortable in this system.
. Head Coach. Milwaukee Bucks. MIKE BUDENHOLZER
