Vonleh worth watching out for

As Giannis Antetokounmpo finished Tuesday’s game between these two teams with 30 points and 14 rebounds, little conversation was devoted to the man who spent most of the night guarding him.

The truth, though, is that Noah Vonleh did as well as most forwards can expect to when they take on that assignment, and has performed admirably well in that matchup throughout what’s been a career season in New York.

Vonleh is averaging 13.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game against the Bucks this year, and that last category would have produced the most notable play of Tuesday’s contest, if not for an even more emphatic rejection of Allonzo Trier arriving later in the game from Antetokounmpo.

Still, the Bucks’ Greek superstar doesn’t get stopped at the rim very often, and Vonleh has developed into a player with the right mix of strength and athleticism to afford him the ability to do just that.

Vonleh’s overall skill-set appears to be developing in a way that should make him an interesting NBA role player for years to come, and he certainly warrants the attention of the Bucks on both ends on Thursday.
