Lopez scaling up the degree of difficulty

At this point, Bucks fans are no longer surprised by the ridiculous collection of long-range shots that Brook Lopez knocks down. In some ways, that’s a pity.

That’s not to suggest that regular watchers of Milwaukee could even begin to take the seven footer for granted, but there is an in-built appreciation and understanding of just how good Lopez is from beyond the arc at this point.

For the rest of the NBA, Lopez coming into away arenas and performing his heroics still comes as a shock, though, and he may even be one of the NBA’s leading drawers of audience gasps.

On Sunday, Lopez certainly provided plenty of reason for the crowd at Chesapeake Arena to react, too. The 30-year-old scored 19 points on 6-of-7 from the field, including 5-of-6 from deep.

To illustrate that further, though, Lopez’s triples came as off the dribble step-backs and side steps over Steven Adams, arguably one of the league’s best and comparatively mobile defensive centers.

So much is discussed about what Lopez’s spacing has unlocked for other Milwaukee players, but just how good his season is in its own right should not be overlooked either.
