Oh captain, my captain

It was all in a night’s work for superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo in the Bucks’ win over the Wizards Saturday night.

Playing over 32-and-a-half minutes of action, Antetokounmpo finished with 37 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field (0-of-3 from long range, 17-of-17 from the foul line), 10 rebounds, four turnovers, two assists, one steal and was a +22 on the night.

The combination of Antetokounmpo’s size, strength and athleticism proved to be incredibly overwhelming for any Wizards player tasked with slowing down the 24-year-old superstar, as it often is every night.

As a result, Antetokounmpo was responsible for nearly 75 percent of the Bucks’ overall trips to the free throw line for the night and did what only 78 other players have done throughout NBA history as The Athletic’s Danny Leroux pointed out after the game (the Bucks also finished a perfect 24-of-24 from the charity stripe).

Simply put, Giannis showcased exactly what was missing during the Bucks’ first meeting with the Wizards last month and gave us one of his more effortless outings in a campaign that’s been increasingly full of them.
