Bucks Gaming got their new season underway with both a win and a loss, helping them to advance to the knockout rounds of the NBA 2K League Tip-Off Tournament.

The NBA 2K League is back, and before Bucks Gaming can get their second regular season campaign underway next week, they’re participating with the rest of the league in the Tip-Off Tournament.

After a summer of change for Milwaukee, only two of last year’s squad have returned for the new campaign. Joining BigMeek and ARooks (formerly known as Game6Drake) are four 2K League rookies: Plondo, SlayIsland, chaddynick, and RSG.

With the tournament underway since Tuesday, Bucks Gaming had to wait patiently to get their group action underway on Friday night. Paired up in a particularly tough group alongside Blazer5 Gaming and Jazz Gaming, the Bucks were considered significant underdogs entering play on Friday. But with two games back-to-back on the slate, they certainly left their mark.

With two group matches for every team, the standings were decided using a points system. A game win awarded four points, a quarter win was worth one point, while a tied quarter would deliver half a point to each team. In other words, every second and every possession really had the potential to be crucial to a team’s hopes of advancing.

All in all, it proved to be a remarkably positive night for Bucks Gaming as they upset the odds to win their group and advance to the single elimination knockout rounds on Saturday.

For now, let’s take a closer look at how they got there before focusing in on some general impressions of Bucks GG’s opening action.
