Milwaukee Bucks 2018-19 Season Review: Donte DiVincenzo
The best of DiVincenzo
Even in his limited run throughout his rookie season, DiVincenzo’s brand of hustle and grittiness took hold, especially on the defensive end.
Taking to heart the tips he sought from retired NBA veteran Kirk Hinrich over the offseason, DiVincenzo’s athleticism and reformed defensive technique translated well when he was a part of the Bucks’ rotation early on in the year. So much so that he logged a 97.0 defensive rating, the best mark of all Bucks players that stuck through the entire season, per NBA.com/stats.
Along with his sound defending, the Delaware native excelled in doing the little things, between getting his hands in passing lanes, diving for loose balls, flying in to contest looks at the rim and so on. He also showed plenty of hustle and a constant willingness to clean up on the defensive glass, as seen by the 11.4 defensive rebounding percentage he amassed.
Switching sides, DiVincenzo proved to be a deft finisher at the basket. Albeit on a small sample size, the Big Ragu put down 26 of his 33 attempts within the restricted area, which made for a 78.8 percent mark.
