Milwaukee Bucks 2018-19 Season Review: Donte DiVincenzo
The worst of DiVincenzo
All throughout his limited time on the court this season, DiVincenzo struggled to find a rhythm shooting the ball when letting it fly from deep.
With practically two-thirds of his total shots coming from beyond the arc, DiVincenzo managed to only connect on 26.5 percent of his 88 tries from that range of the floor. DiVincenzo didn’t fare any better shooting the ball in his few assignments with the Wisconsin Herd, the Bucks’ G League affiliate, as he hit on 26.9 percent of his 26 attempts from three.
DiVincenzo’s streaky shooting was an unfortunate feature throughout his rookie campaign and it impacted his meager scoring output for his first season in the big leagues, which topped out at 4.9 points per game with the Bucks. For those wondering, DiVincenzo scored 15.3 points on .432/.269/.833 shooting splits over his four assignments with the Herd this season.
But largely the most disappointing aspect of DiVincenzo’s rookie season was the injuries that contributed to him logging so little time over the course of the year on both the NBA and G League levels.
DiVincenzo’s troubling case of heel bursitis was the main culprit behind why he was sidelined for the majority of his rookie season. Eventually, treatment was sought on March 26 to alleviate the ailment, which then officially cut short DiVincenzo’s year to 27 regular season appearances and four assignments with the Herd.
