Moving forward

Being one of the handful of Bucks players under contract heading into next season, Brown’s offseason will be full of hard work to continue filing out his development and reaching new heights to his new game.

The most interesting aspect to Brown’s summer isn’t directly tied to him as it has more to do with how the team’s handling of their offseason may affect his future role going into next season. As has and will be noted to death over the coming weeks, Milwaukee is set to have a whole host of players hit the free agent market in less than a month and a number of those come from their backcourt, between Malcolm Brogdon, George Hill and Khris Middleton.

Of the three, what happens with Brogdon is the most pertinent to Brown, considering he did step into his spot in the starting lineup late into the season and into the first five games of the Bucks’ playoff run.

At this stage, Brown is far from a like-for-like replacement of Brogdon and the key for Brown to becoming a fully fledged, starting caliber wing within the Bucks’ starting unit is honing his range from three while also smoothing out his fiery defensive mentality into an even more productive, foul free defender.

After all, Brown’s third season will be a big one, considering it will be the last under his three-year rookie deal. And if he continues down his current trajectory, he could potentially be in line to command a nice raise in his own right just a little over year from now.
