After bowing out during last year’s pre-draft process, Missouri center Jontay Porter has stuck it out and thrown his name into this year’s NBA Draft, only this time carrying far greater red flags.

They saying timing is everything and that is a heavy theme throughout the NBA Draft year after year regarding prospects who face the dilemma of sticking through with being classified as a draft steal or returning back to school in the hopes of being a more highly regarded selection.

Under that purview, sophomore big man Jontay Porter out of the University of Missouri may be the biggest standout as he’s sticking through this time around after declaring and subsequently withdrawing his name during last year’s draft.

Since that decision, though, the 19-year-old’s basketball journey has taken a significant detour as he’s torn his right ACL not once, but twice in the matter of five months, the first coming in October of last year before the start of the season and then again back in March.

The result of Porter’s second ACL tear came after he admittedly rushed back into action without being cleared by his doctors during his first rehabilitation.

Now after being 15 months since he’s last taken the court in an official game setting, Porter’s entry into the NBA is entirely clouded with plenty of uncertainty and mystery with two and a half weeks remaining between now and the draft.

Throughout the 33 appearances he made during his freshman season with the Tigers back in 2017-18, Porter averaged 9.9 points per game on shooting splits of .437/364/.750, 6.8 rebounds, 2.2 assist and 1.7 blocks, all of which came on 24.5 minutes per game

So without further ado, let’s dig into the game of Jontay Porter by exploring his strengths, his well-documented weaknesses and injuries, where draft experts currently rate him and examine his potential fit with the Milwaukee Bucks.
